Rated 2 out of 5 by Tiredofseeingblackscreens Worked Solid At First
So I've owned this Blu Ray for about 2 years. I never questioned when it didn't play a dvd because its in the bedroom and I don't get to watch tv in there often. Now it wont play any of my dvd yes the blu rays. The box will say menu and it will sound like a skynet exist. I have no choice but to get a new device.

This Player is nice and small. A little slow to load but not bad. First few bluRay's we got worked great. Now when we get one, it may or may not load. Then play for a short time, then start skipping and showing small playback in the corner. Very sad, I really liked the player.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Monkeyb00y Won't play certain blu-rays
Ok, I'll admit this thing worked fine at first. It plays DVDs and Blu-Rays no problem. Netflix works great. It's a little slow but you get used to it. Then we started to get a few more blu-ray movies since it worked so good. But when we got Man of Steel, it refuses to play the movie at all, it will load the menu screen (snips from the movie playing on the screen) without the menu to make it play the movie. It has the "MENU" error message like the others. I've already rebooted, and reset to factory defaults, and refreshed the firmware to no avail.
I was thinking "ok, maybe it's the blu-ray disc that is causing a problem, since all of our other blu-rays work..." but for how long?? We purchased the Blu-Ray of FROZEN today and tried to watch it... 'UNKNOWN DISC' so I've had it with this thing. Why would I want a machine is designed to watch blu-rays and it won't even play them. It's going to be a dvd play for a spare bed room now, gathering dust until it stops working all together. I will buy another one but certainly not this brand.

Rated 4 out of 5 by kdc365 Nice product just wish the specs would not state it supports 21:9 aspect ratio
Nice product just wish the specs would not state it supports 21:9 aspect ratio when there really isn't any under display settings there is only 16:9 wide or 4:3 or regular 16:9, although even on the pamphlet it states this unit supports 21:9 aspect ratio and if you have a Cinema-wide TV this would be a great feature to have anyhow, other than that this is a solid BLU Ray Player with DivX support as well as MKV file support.

I have had this player for several months and find the overall performance is dragged down by a badly designed remote control.
You have to be directly in front of the unit for it to work which defeats the object of having one.
I found the disc loading to be slow and the operation of the "Open/Close" button to be unreliable
The YouTube app is painfully slow - either with a wired or wireless connection - and as a result I rarely use it.

Very slow to respond. Takes awhile to get on netflix and get internet connection. Slow to scan through menu compared to other brands i have tried. Good picture. Had it for about 4 months when it began acting up and stopped responding. the message HONTE would appear on display and it would lock up and loose picture

Rated 5 out of 5 by cedup Exxcellent stuff
Better image quality than the older Philips DVD player, when playing the same DVD up sampling to 1080 must work. i didn't realize that the player will turn on my Philips LCD tv when the player is turned on, SLICK. All through one HDMI cable. No more rats nest of years gone by. Works great, good bargain, small.
