Rated 4 out of 5 by AllenB Most Innovative Way To Wake Up
This is the most innovative way I've experienced to naturally wake up in the morning. Overall I loved the product but would like to see a few improvements including being able to link with my smartphone for music selection and voice recognition to set and turn off rather than having to reach for the small buttons. The Midnight light is also soothing.

I received this this product in exchange for my honest review, but I was in the market for a new alarm, so this worked out great!I have an odd schedule where my wake up time varies day to day. It makes it hard to wake up some mornings. I wanted a more natural way to wake up. The wake up light helps a lot. The thing I liked the most was the way the volume of the alarm slowly increases. It's a much more pleasant way to wake up. I wish there were more alarm sound options. It is kind of big. It takes up half my nightstand, which is probably the biggest drawback. The sunrise effect would be especially good for someone who has a very dark bedroom. My room has a lot of Windows so the wake up light gives me a second sunrise. Not really necessary, but kind of cool. Turns out my favorite thing is the low light you get by tapping on the top. I've actually used that quite a bit. Overall, I'm pretty darn happy with my new alarm.

I’m the person who used to set 25 alarms on the iphone order to make sure I woke up. If the alarm sounds didn’t cut it, turning off the 25 alarms would. I would wake up tired and groggy—really not in the mood to start the day.
I was curious about it from the start. I was sent a free sample to use for this review and as soon as the Wake Up Light arrived, i got to testing it out immediately. Setting up was easy, and simple-yet-detailed instructions come with it so you know how to navigate around. It is a little intimidating at first if you try to start using it without the guide so read the steps in order to know how to access all the features.
I was very dubious at first on whether the sounds of little birds and a light in the middle of the night would do anything to my heavy sleep, especially after I heard the sounds as I was setting up the alarm-- but I felt the difference right on the first night. That morning, I set the alarm at 4:45am. I needed to get up at 5:00am so I set an alarm on my phone for 5:00am just in case this alarm didn’t wake me up. Come down to wake-up time, and not only did I wake up on time—I actually woke up before the alarm officially starting chirping all due to the stimulated sunrise light this thing has. I didn’t have to use the phone alarm at all.
The next few nights were the same. The light is bright enough and begins 30 mins before your actual wake up time, so your body naturally starts waking itself up from deep sleep slowly. If the light doesn’t wake you, the gentle sounds that come on will. On one of the nights I was in a very deep sleep and didn’t wake up solely with the light, but the gentle sounds of the birds chirping seeped into my dreams and I woke up immediately. They’re not obnoxious sounds either, they are soothing and gentle. For couples who wake up at different times, just make sure to use the alarm clock noises in a medium setting—the glare of the light right next to your nightstand will be strong enough to wake you but not your partner, but the max volume for the noises could be set really high so just be conscious of that.
Another great feature is that it has a USB port for your phone. Before the alarm arrived I was concerned about outlet space as I currently have a nightlamp and my phone plugged into the outlet there. This tied in perfectly with that. It`s also nice that it has a radio, although I only used it once to see how the audio sounded (very good), but didn`t use it for my alarms as I liked the sounds the product comes with.
I’m waking up energized, feeling good and refreshed. The difference I feel with this alarm is great.
The only things I’ve found difficult are that the side buttons are difficult to find. The interface is so clean and built with quality, but I have to carry the whole orb from my bed in order to look at the buttons I’m pressing. With time It’s getting easier to know what I’m pressing, and it’s become quite a game to see if I get it right or miss. The second thing I wish was slightly better was the night light. It is so easy to turn on and off. It works great if you need a dim enough light to walk around at night, but as a reading light I think it is too soft. It’s not strong enough for me to make out the words on my page. (Maybe that’s only an issue for people who still can’t get on the kindle lifestyle). But still, I think the night light does such an amazing job at waking me up gently from my deep sleep that I really don’t mind the little things like the light, those are just extras.
Overall, this product is amazing and does the job effectively and well. I now solely use this alarm and hope that I never again have to turn on 25 alarms to wake me up on time. Yup, even if that means lugging this thing around in my travels.

Rated 5 out of 5 by AnnieC Good product.
I was asked to provide an honest review in exchange for this product. I had no idea what to expect but was excited to try it out. I am overall very impressed with this wake up light. The instructions were clear and concise, very easy to setup. Love the options for either radio or nature sounds as the alarm. The phone charger in the back was a very nice addition, pretty slow charge but gets the job done. I use it as a radio, lamp, and phone charger. The sounds wake me up before the light transition. But I would definitely recommend to anyone looking to wake up more peacefully.

When I first received this product (for free to review) I was excited to test it out since I have seen them in the stores. I love the sleek look of it and it blends into night stand. The soft clock light does not eliminate a ton of light so it doesn’t interfere with sleeping. I did find the instructions and setting it up to be a bit confusing but once I got going it became more clear, still not the easiest to know what you’re setting and at what volume. The first night I used it I loved the “natural” feeling of waking up. It was much more enjoyable than my blaring cell phone. Next it kept my partner asleep. Often I am up before him so the light on my side only woke me up and since it starts to come on (you decide how much more time before) before the sound comes on it allows you to turn it off the sound before it comes on. The sound is also helpful in case you are not facing the light; it gives you another way to ensure you wake up. Overall I really like this product, I would recommend they improve the instructions or make it more user friendly. Luckily once set up you can turn on/off the alarm without resetting. They also give you the ability to set 2 alarms, so if some days you wake up earlier you can have a 2nd alarm set and then just turn on the one you need before bed (simple click of a button)

I received this wake up light as a free sample in exchange for leaving a review. I am very pleased! It was fun to set up and experiment with the various brightness options and wakeup alarm sound options. I hadn't had an alarm clock other than my phone in years. I love that is comes with a plug for my iPhone, and comes with AM and FM radio. I also love the relaxing wake up each morning as opposed to my phone alarm coming on full blast. The wake up light eases me into wake up with a dim light that slowly gets brighter and brighter, and a relaxing soft noise of birds chirping. I am a huge fan!

I have been struggling to find a good way to wake up in the morning for a while and had been looking at various gadgets on the market. I was offered a free sample of the Philips Wake Up Light to review and jumped at the chance to try it out. I take some medication that often leaves me extremely groggy in the morning, and it's really hard to wake up. I wasn't sure if this light would help, but it actually did!
I tried it out over Christmas break, and set it for 8:30 in the morning on a day where I had nothing to do. I woke up to the light a few minutes before it was set to finish its cycle - you can set it to take a varying amount of time to wake you up, I chose 30 minutes. I wasn't just sort of awake, I was totally awake and alert! And it wasn't jarring or alarming (no pun intended). It's really pleasant. I tested it for the rest of Christmas break and have been using it now that I am back and work and I love being up in the morning and not feeling like I need to crawl back into bed.
The light itself doesn't require any physical setup, just plugging it in. The programming could be a bit more intuitive. I found the directions to be detailed, but there are a lot of buttons on the light, and you can also use tapping gestures - I'm not sure I have them all down yet. I do like the nightlight function - two taps creates an orange glow so you can find your way in the dark, but it's not bright enough to disturb your sleep.
The light itself is attractive and modern, and I appreciate the usb plug so I can charge my phone. Overall, I definitely recommend this as an effective and gentle way to wake up!

I received the Wake UP Light -3531/60 as a free sample in exchange for reviewing this product. I was excited to sample this product because I am not one who likes the loud wake up of an alarm clock. it was a bit complicated to set up and it took me a few tries to get the time right- since it has a 12 hour function or a 24 hour clock function. the set up does take more time than a typical alarm clock but it also has more options than a regular alarm clock. i do like how the light can be made brighter or lighter depending on what your preference is. i am sure there are still more features for me to examine- but I would recommend this for those who have trouble waking up or don`t like the sound of an alarm clock.
