Rated 5 out of 5 by AudiobookMama Reliable and Portable for Audiobooks
I use this device to listen to audiobooks. It has no problems with either WMA or MP3 format. I can't get my Android to play the WMA audiobooks due to the library's format, but this will. It holds quite a bit too.
The only problems that I've had for over a year now, is that the buttons sometimes don't respond. It is usually short term. I just keep hitting them, and eventually it does. This is pretty rare, though.
I would definitely recommend this to friends and family.

Rated 4 out of 5 by BikerB Great product, clean sound.
I've owned a few mp3 players and this is the best yet. If I could give a design tip; It needs a eyelet at the top so you can attach a lanyard. I use mine while riding my motorcycle and I fabricated a lanyard to wear around my neck making the unit easy to reach.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Sheerdoom Great sound, unpractical design
I got one of these things for christmas and I can say it works like a champ. The sound quality is amazing, better than any other non-ipod mp3 ive found so far! The duribility of this device is extraordiany! I have accidently put this thing through the washer and the dryer twice and it still works. As for the music, just drag and drop into the music folder and it automatically catagorizes it. As for battery life also amazing, after 2 years it still lasts 48 hours constant music on a single charge. It charges very rapidly too. As for design not so much. This gadget is way too small, the vedio is completely unpractical because the screen is soo small you cant actually see it. It also is very picky when it comes to vedio codecs and what types it can play, somewhat of a let down as I have yet to get video on this thing to work.
All in all, I would buy this product again, but some work could be done with design, and this is 2012 moores law says newer models of this thing should be 16GB. I would recommend this too someone who doesnt have an Ipod or zune.

Rated 3 out of 5 by izzy1996 good every now and then listener, not for someone who wants to use it everyday, and do more then download music
I bought it to listen to music and it has serven its purpose, altough you need a windows computer with internet to download music onto it. it has very good sound quality. I happy with it, but i don't use it that much. It is very hard to and takes time to figure it out. Not much information on it for downloading the audibooks

Rated 4 out of 5 by Karenf Great sound, but freezes up my computer
I bought my GoGear Vibe last week. I am very impressed with the sound quality. I'm listening to songs that I've been listening to for YEARS, yet I'm hearing wonderful new things in these songs. On the down side, I find it hard to navigate, not user friendly, but it just might take some getting more familiar with the devise. Another VERY FRUSTRATING thing is that every time I plug it into my computer to either download music or to charge the battery, my computer freezes. What would make that happen?
All in all, for the price it's a great device...or would be if it didn't mess with my laptop.

WHAT A WASTE!!!!!I purchased one of your SongBird MP3/MP4 players for a teen grandchild for Christmas. It was easy to download music but what a waste of my hard earned money! Today the player will not turn on...is locked up!!!!A PIECE OF JUNK to fill our landfills.

Rated 2 out of 5 by xanaftp Has a few good points, but is not good for non-Windows users or MP3 player beginners
I received this MP3/MP4 player as a Christmas gift. From what I saw on the packaging about its features, I thought this would be a good MP3/MP4 player.
It's not that great in my opinion.
The good sides to it is that it plays mp3 files in quite good quality. Its battery life is long; I took a 5 hour road trip with it on and playing music the entire time (and the screen was even on all the time but dim), and I still had full battery according to the player after the trip. It has an FM radio tuner, which in my opinion tunes in better than any other mp3 player I have had in the past. Plus, if the radio station you're listening gives out track info, the mp3 player will display it.
Now for the bad side...
Some of the functions of the player are hard to use or set up correctly. The 4 buttons at the bottom of the player can be misleading at times depending on what you want to do. It has a voice recorder, but the audio of the recordings are poor.
The number of supported audio, picture, and video formats that are supported is low. Much less... you can't just put any MP4 video on the player and expect it to work. Apparently I think it has to go through Songbird... which is bad for non-Windows users like me. So I was very disappointed that I cannot use my player to play videos now... that was a big thing I was going to use it for. (I deducted 2 stars for this problem).
Technical support for Philips in an attempt to find a workaround to this video issue was not helpful... they couldn't provide any more specific details except "it plays mp4 videos" (I deducted my third star because of that). It obviously doesn't play just any mp4 video. It only plays a specific type of mp4 video.
If you are pretty good figuring things out ON YOUR OWN, you have Windows, you're okay with the fact that most likely you'll HAVE to use Songbird, you don't care about poor picture and video quality, and you don't plan to have to use technical support, then this product may be for you. Otherwise, I would not recommend it.
