very nice monitor
bought this monitor to replace another. I like the size and sharpness...makes computer so much easier to see and I don't need my glasses.
So far so good.

Giant Screen w/Beautiful Colors, Super Resolution
Besides web surfing, I use this monitor for programming. It can show well over 100 lines of code in each of two side-by-side windows. You make fewer mistakes when you can see the beginning and end of each block. Everything goes faster when you aren't constantly scrolling. If you do this kind of work, you understand what I mean.
Your video has to support 4K. To be sure, try it in the store before you buy if you can. Or upgrade your hardware.
Since my first PC in 1983 I've had the biggest screen an individual person could reasonably afford. I have spent as much as $2k on them. This is the best one yet and one of the least expensive. It has run for nine months so far without a glitch.

Excellent monitor, only one of its kind in the U.S. right now
I'm a professional film composer and I've been researching 4k monitors for a year now due to the productivity boost that all those pixels allow for. Surprisingly, this Philips monitor is still the only available large-format 4k computer monitor available in the U.S., so I finally picked one up (UHD TVs don't work as proper computer monitors).
In short, it is stunning to have this much 'real estate' available, and quite a productivity boost. As a Mac user, my standards are high, and I'm happy to report that once calibrated, the colors look great and the contrast is insanely good.
The only downsides are:
1. slight uniformity issues (brightness drops off a bit in corners) - but as picky as I am, it's not a deal breaker given the massive trade-up in workspace.
2. when first powered on or woken from sleep, the display will randomly flicker off and on a few times - sometimes several minutes later. That's really startling and disconcerting. It eventually settles down, but it doesn't inspire confidence.
3. it uses a nonstandard BGR sub pixel layout instead of RGB, so Mac users will have to put up with ever-so-slightly dull text rendering at full resolution. Not a huge deal, but it's noticeable if you're used to a 'retina' display.
Overall, this display is quite an advance, and the only one of its kind right now. Other than the flickering issue, I'm thrilled with it!

Beautiful display properties
I had a problem in that my initial delivery from Amazon died on me within 3 weeks, however, Amazon immediately authorized a replacement, and I have now received the replacement. For the price this an excellent full-house display with incredible clarity-very happy with it and considering a second purchase-of hopefully an updated version in the very near future. What about a 55 inch monitor?
