Still Works Great After 45 Years, Customer Says

MARKHAM (Ontario) – March 10, 2005 – Philips is pleased to congratulate Bill Falkingham of Durham, Ontario, who owns a 45-year-old Philishave still functioning today.  Falkingham, who has regularly used his classic shaver since the age of 20, is overwhelmed by its product longevity.

“This item should be inducted into the hall of fame,” said Nancy Falkingham.   “My husband is so very impressed with his time-honoured Philishave that he prefers nothing else.”

Philips recently received a letter from Mrs. Falkingham relating her husband’s gratitude on his Philishave’s product performance.  Falkingham was given another shaver last December as a replacement. However, even in a world of endless streamlined technology and consumers vying for the latest in high-tech gadgets, Falkingham still prefers his traditional Philishave.

The first Philishave was first introduced at the Voorjaarsbuers (Spring Fair) on March 1939 in Holland. The shaver was invented by Alexandre “Sacha” Horowitz, an inventor from Belgium.  Having over 130 patents to his name over a 50-year period, Mr. Horowitz’s most famous invention was the Philishave rotary electric shaver.  Today, Philips offers more than 30 men’s grooming products ranging from beard trimmers to men’s skin products featuring shaving gels and lotions.
