Troubleshooting

Philips Airfryer home-made fries are not as expected

Philips Airfryer uses Rapid Air technology, which makes the frying process different from deep fat frying. Check out the tips below on how to achieve best results.

Things to consider when making home-made fries:

  • Choose a potato race suitable for making fries

  • Best to bake the fries in portions of up to 20 oz. for an even result

  • Larger fries can get less crispy than smaller fries

  • Shake the basket 2-3 times through the air frying process

How to prepare Home-made fries:

Note: Add 3 minutes to the preparation time when you start frying while the Airfryer is still cold.

  1. Peel the potatoes and cut them into sticks.

  2. Soak the potato sticks in a bowl for at least 30 minutes, take them out and dry them with kitchen paper.

  3. Pour half a tablespoon of olive oil in a bowl, put the sticks in the bowl and mix until the sticks are coated with oil.

  4. Remove the sticks from the bowl with your fingers or a kitchen utensil so that excess oil stays behind in the bowl. Put the sticks in the basket.

  5. Fry 10-30 oz. of the potato sticks at 355°F for 18-25 minutes and shake the basket halfway through the air frying process. Shake 2-3 times if you prepare more than 15 oz. of fries.

Tip: You will obtain better results if you use pre-baked frozen or chilled fries from the supermarket.

Preparing pre-baked (e.g. frozen) fries or potato gratin:

Thin frozen fries: Take 10-25 oz., bake at 390°F for 12-16 minutes. Shake basket 2-3 times during.

Thick frozen fries: Take 10-25 oz., bake at 390°F for 12-20 minutes. Shake basket 2-3 times during.

Potato gratin: Take 20 oz., bake at 350°F for 18-22 minutes.

Note: Add 3 minutes to the preparation time when you start frying while the Airfryer is still cold.
