Excellent design outshines the competition!I developed mastitis not long after I started breastfeeding. Breastfeeding alone was not helping alleviate the pain, so I turned to a competitor's electric pump that I paid hundreds of dollars for. I found that the flange was hard plastic which failed to create a suction, and didn't express milk very efficiently. Since the expensive electric breast pump failed to live up to my expectations, I went shopping for a breast pump that might actually work, and provide some relief from the mastitis pain. I came across the Avent Comfort manual breast pump with the soft massage cushion, and decided to give it a try. After all, it seemed very reasonably priced, so what did I have to lose. After only five minutes of pumping with the Avent Comfort manual breast pump the pain I was suffering from decreased significantly! I was amazed at how well it worked! This product out performed the competitor's expensive electric breast pump BY FAR! I expressed more milk with the Avent Comfort manual breast pump in ten minutes than I did with the electric pump in one hour. The design of the Avent Comfort manual breast pump is genius! The soft massage cushion is comfortable and creates the suction necessary for efficiently expressing milk. This product is so easy to use, and works so well, that it is the only breast pump I rely on. Thank you Avent for making such an outstanding product!

This is my go-to pump on a busy day! This pump is the primary reason that I was successful with breastfeeding for now 8 months. When I left the hospital with my LO, my electric pump was no help. A good friend advised me to try a manual one to I tried Philips Avent Comfort Manual breast pump and I've never stopped using it. It provides the right amount of suction, it's lightweight and allows me to pump a full 9oz bottle in 15 minutes. I've even pulled it out in a traffic jam (I have really dark tint on my windows) to relieve my engorgement.
I'd recommend this product to all breastfeeding mothers.

Easy to use.I've been using it now for three months and had no problems. I prefer the manual because you can control the suction. I use it with or without the cushion. Great product.

definitely NOT and improvement on the originalI have used avent manual breast pumps for all 3 of my children now. I bought the original manual isis in 2003 and when i had my 2nd baby in 2011 i decided to update and bought a new one. I go through diaphragms like crazy. Some of them are shoddy and don't even last a week others are better and can last me a month. I sent my husband to the only store near us to get more diaphragms and it was a bit of an emergency so when he said they didn't have any more in stock i told him to just buy the new pump and i would see how i liked it because it is supposed to be better. I thought it would be great not to have to worry about drips and maybe not lean forward so far to pump. The suction is almost too strong even with a light squeeze of the handle compared to my old worn in one. The massage cushion is a little tight for me so i probably would need the larger cushion. The problem i have is after using it for a day my hand ached all over and i had a huge bruise on the back of my hand where it rubs between my thumb and pointer. I thought it would just take some getting used to but by the end of the second day it was so sore i just couldn't use the new pump any more. Now i don't know just what i will do. My first pump the handle actually wore out and broke. My second pump is well on its way there but i don't think i can use the new pump it is just too hard on my hand and that is a lot coming from a full time manual pump user. I would not call this an improvement on the old. *But i definitely would recommend the old pump.

The only one that worked!I bought this pump almost 8 years ago when my daughter was an infant. I had already gone through an electric pump that didn't work and two manual pumps from different companies that both broke on me.
My nipples are small and slightly inverted, but this pump worked with me anyway! I took it to work with me every day because it was quiet, efficient, and came with a discreet carrying case. I loved it then, and when baby 2 is born in a couple of months, I plan to use it again!
The only downside was that you pump directly into a bottle. It's hard to switch bottles midway through pumping without spraying everywhere. I recommend getting an 8 oz. bottle to use for pumping, in case you have more in your breasts than you anticipated.

Very Happy!I chose to try the AVENT breast pump just to compare to a similar product, but upon my using this Avent pump i realized that , there is no comparing similar breast pumps... Hands down, the Philips product is sound, well made and help's me feed my new daughter the way most doctors agree, with my own natural breast milk! thank you , im so very happy.

Broke very quick and flanges too smallI had this pump 10 years ago and it was all I ever needed. I loved it more than the few hundred dollar breast pump I had. It worked great and was convenient to travel with. I just had another baby and the new model pump does not seal shut. I have spilled an entire pumped bottle several times, as I pump the bottle becomes lose. Also, I have large nipple and I can not use the soft rubber cover because my nipple will get stuck. This pump would be so great if it were just made a little better.
