I loved this set until last week when the sound stopped working on one of my units. BUYER BEWARE: be prepared to replace right after the warranty ends.

We got it as a Christmas gift. The dual DVD portable player is great for our two kids who wants to be entertain on a road trip. We have been using it for the last 21 months. The only thing is that one of them is not playing the disc properly or makes the disc get scratched. I don't know if is because over use or defective machine. Easy to install it and take down. Great picture and sound.

We had the dual disc player for about 1 year when the first player stopped reading discs. It gave a bad disc error or wouldn't load at all - even with discs that work on other players. We switched so the other player always fed both screens. We use them about 4-5 times a year. All highway (no off-roading or bumpy terrain). In the past six months (months 18-24 after purchase), the other player worked intermittently and has now failed. I would not recommend this product to others.

We have had to use tape on both units to keep them closed because they would pop open. Then we would have to pull over and close in order to keep watching .

Rated 2 out of 5 by Roadtrip2014 After ONE road trip DVD pops open
I am very disappointed in this product. After waiting 6 months to install this in my car (my daughter got it for Xmas, but I wanted to save it for long road trips), it stopped working after our first trip. DVD player always pops open, so it stops working. I used tape for awhile, but this solution didn't last. Poor product.

Be aware: The picture of the device in the car is MISSING THE CORDS. It does not set up so nicely when connecting the 2 units together.
The cord to connect the 2 devices is too short. It is constnantly in the way when being used. Have already broken one cord--and it's not one that can be replaced any any local store.
Used the players for less than a year before one started with the "disc loading" issue that is mentioned quite a bit on here. Was still able to use the players with when I could tie them together--once that broke, the only way to get the 2nd player to wokr was to shake the heck out of it.
My advice is to buy a warrenty. I brought mine back to Best Buy and got a brand new one along with the full warranty (4 years.) I can replace it yearly (or more often) as it stops working.

My wife and I are actually on our 3rd set of these. We bought these 2 years ago when our son was born for long trips. Used it regularly, but not abused at all. After about 6 months, the screen went out on one unit. No more than a month later the second unit lost sound. Bought a new set... within 2 months lost sound again on one unit, and shortly there after the cigarette lighter connection broke. My in-laws bought a new set for this Christmas, connected everything, and used it twice. One unit will not read any discs, just keeps saying "loading". The other unit will read the same disc with no problem. I am bringing these back to Best Buy and will NOT purchase another Philips brand unit again. Save your money.

I bought this for our kids and have used them a few times on long trips, etc. No bumps, no abuse. They started freezing the discs and now BOTH say "bad disc" no matter how new the discs are. A failure.
