Unable to Preset stations on my Philips AJ3980 clock

Tune to the desired radio station.
To store a station, press and hold a preset number 1-5.
You will hear a double beep to confirm the station has been set.
Repeat steps 1 and 2 to store the other stations. You can store up to a total of 5 stations for each frequency band.
