Philips Avent Premium Connected Baby Monitor

When this Philips Avent Premium Connected Baby Monitor first arrived at my door, I was, well, a little skeptical. This monitor seems to have all the bells and whistles, but the package was so small—smaller even than my monthly book subscription box. I didn't know how a package so small could possibly meet all the needs I have and expected this monitor to help with. I'm happy to share that it absolutely delivers! First of all, unpacking it from the box was easy peasy. There are diagrams throughout the box so you know exactly what you need to do with each piece. Full set up, including mounting, took less than 20 minutes. The charging dock for the parent monitor is super convenient and easy to put the monitor on. It also charged pretty quickly and was ready to use. I would love to see an option that doesn't require mounting (so I can continue to use it once we've outgrown the crib), but for our current needs, this worked great. Not only does this monitor allow me to get clear images of my youngest son (I currently have it over his crib), but it also allows me to do a plethora of other things too! I have 6 little ones currently ranging from 2 to 14 and sometimes it can take me a second to get upstairs to grab my son out of his crib when he wakes up. Being able to quickly speak to him and let him know I see that he's up and will be there shortly has really kept him calm while I handle what I need to finish before grabbing him. I also love that I can use the monitor to help soothe him to sleep with different lights and sounds. He has routines, so he doesn't use those features too often, but having the option is pretty solid. Being able to easily swap between the physical parent unit and my cell phone (via the app) has been great too! Being able to check in on him from afar came in handy when I was out of town for a few days. It was wonderful to be able to see him, even though I was many hours away. When at home, I love the physical unit as I can just carry it around with me and it has a handy stand to prop up wherever I want to put it down. I can also take it outside so I can keep an eye on him while working on yard work. Another big plus is that we prefer to turn our wifi off at night. This has led to some of our monitors being useless at night, but in the case of this monitor, we can still see and use it 100% the same as if we had it connected to wifi (minus being able to use the app). It's truly fantastic for both using and for safety/security. I love being able to simply "take if offline". All the controls are pretty easy and intuitive. Really, I can't think of anything this monitor could do differently. I no longer need the breathing tracking (since my kiddo is older now), but having that option built in with no extras needed is amazing too! The Philips Avent Premium baby monitor is by far my favorite baby monitor I’ve ever had! I highly recommend it to any new parents or seasoned parents. The difference is in the picture quality! I can see the whole room from one angle. So far I’ve used this monitor with my 6 month old and my 4 year old! It’s a game changer in my oldest daughter room! The sound and voice quality is out of this world. My daughter and I can clearly hear each other from both ends of the monitor, no lagging or cutting in and out! The night vision keeps me sane at night when I’m checking in on my girls! This monitor helps give me a good nights sleep, not having to worry about missing an alert! The best feature to me is the room temperature sensor! We live in Colorado, where the temperature is always changing rapidly and that helps give me a good sense of temperature in the room that the girls are in. The app is super user friendly and easy to navigate! We can use the app for night time but during the day for nap time I take the screen anywhere in the house with me. 10/10 would buy this product for up coming baby showers and Christmas presents for friends and family! I really appreciated how easy and quickly I was able to install the monitor. The instructions were clear and helpful even though it required a drill. It came with a map that helped me identify where to drill holes. At first, I was a little intimidated by that, but once I put it together, I was impressed by how vast it came together and how sleek the design was against the wall. The monitor itself is great because it could be used with Wi-Fi or direct satellite so you never have to worry about whether or not your Wi-Fi is gone out or not. It gave me great comfort to be able to use the breathing feature without a band. Especially for naps when I don’t really want to wake her up in order to put a band on. The app was easy to use and the sleep insights were helpful, too, as we are in the middle of a sleep regression! The picture quality of the monitor is very good. The zoom and night vision are excellent bonus features. I also appreciated how the monitor stands when set down and how it is not too big and not too small. It was nice to have a separate device to monitor baby on. I really liked how user-friendly the monitor was and the peace of mind. I got when using it. I received this product as part of the stellar product testing panel.

For me, as soon as I opened this monitor, the overall vibe is the epitome of safety! Not only for your baby, but for the equipment itself! Upon opening, its neatly organized and well packaged. All hardware is included that you need to secure the camera to the wall. A detail that stood out was how the creators sought out the baby's safety by adding wall panels to cover up the power cord that runs up the wall. It even includes a stencil to align the anchor holes to the base of the camera for precise precision. The creators programed an easy to download app, it literally pops up on the monitor as soon as you turn it on. Its very user friendly. Unlike other monitors, this one has the capabilities of tracking breathing and sleep habits without your baby being attached to anything, which I believe it very important for the safety and security of any little one. The less you have in your baby's crib, the better! The sound quality is excellent. I love that you can choose between 15 various lullibies and sounds to play through the monitor. You can adjust the volume and set a timer on how long it plays. It also has a two-way speaking system which comes in very handy! The picture quality is also something to note as you are able to utilize the digital zoom as well as enabling a night vision feature. You are able to be in full control of a lot of features from the app. The monitor has a built-in night light feature as well as a temperature detection gauge to let you know if its too hot/cold for the baby. The only thing it doesn't include, which I believe would be an all in one best monitor, is a touch screen feature if you chose to use it. Overall, this monitor is state of the art and quite outstanding!

My overall impression of the Philips Avent Premium Connected Baby Monitor is one that has all the bells and whistles, but not all are included. My first impression upon receiving the monitor is that the setup is super easy and straightforward. It was easily completed the very first attempt. You, of course, had to sign up through the company’s website/create an account which is expected, but with a separate monitor unit, it would have been a nice feature to be user-ready upon unboxing. I say that so that the monitor and camera could be easily moved and used by an additional caregiver without knowing the account criteria and could be just used as a closed-system. That is not a dealbreaker, I just thought it would be a feature that would really not have a downside, additionally if your Wi-Fi is down, you can still monitor your sleeping baby. The app itself was very user-friendly and jampacked with an array of features; from recordable lullabies, to nature sounds and the added feature of a nightlight on the camera itself. As jampacked as it is, it is worth noting some of the features are subscription-based. I see this to be a headache to know that in order to use all the features of this premium-priced monitor, you must still pay a subscription fee to use more complex features, why? I would rather pay an inflated price upfront and have everything the device is capable of included, not this surprise fine-print ploy that says to me, “You’re child’s safety is important, but not for free.” The features this includes are the Zoundream features and cry translation features. They seem like they would be very useful in monitoring your sleeping baby, but I cannot agree to partake in another subscription-based pricing model just to see what my baby’s cry means. The sense IQ technology is the technology used to monitor your child’s sleep. My first impression of it is that it seems to be really great, but the model I was given to test was not seen as one that is capable of being crib-mounted. The standard mounting options that I see on the commercially accessible units, seem to have the option of being wall or crib-mount. I am not sure why you would even have a wall-mounted only option when the tutorial itself on the camera recommends the crib-mount option up until they are standing, which is quite a number of weeks, even months. So, I was able to adapt to my options (pictures included), and not wanting to put holes in my wall, was able to mount the camera on a solid surface that could be utilized in the previously selected area for hanging portraits. I understand that the camera has certain criteria to meet in order to be effective in monitoring a child’s sleep, I just am not a fan that no features in the Sense IQ tech can be used, unless it is mounted in this one way. It is an all or nothing function that makes it difficult when considering the portability of this setup and how it can be used. The big takeaway from the Sense IQ technology is one that is very appreciated and that is the monitoring of the child without a wearable device. We have used the wearable devices that can have their own problems of fit, and connection issues; but with this baby monitor, you can say goodbye to all of those: “in the middle of the night notifications/alerts,” “loud notifications during naptime.” This is probably my favorite feature and what sold me on wanting to use it for my child. When concerning the Sleep tracking insights, I found the data to be quite concise and informative. A daily view is very easy to understand and see how your baby’s night went. On the flip side of that, when you look at the breakdown from the week, it’s quite difficult to decipher and doesn’t seem to have as much data as a daily view. I acknowledge it could be how I have my app setup, but just as a general, factory layout, it doesn’t offer much information. To conclude on this topic, I would say it’s very helpful in knowing the breakdown of your child’s sleep relative precisely and knowing how your child is impacted as a result. This feature is unbelievably convenient whenever you factor in not having a wearable device on your baby, and because of that, I would be sold on getting this monitor for anyone who is in the market for one. The accompanying portable monitor that is included as a separate screen is a really great added feature and something that can be utilized but anyone, including a babysitter or a parent who just wants to take a break from their phone but still stay connected to their sleeping baby. I found the picture quality to be great and easy on the eyes. Another great feature was the night vision capability of the monitor. It was so beneficial and a wonderful bonus to have available on the device. There are also multiple features that the camera itself has and it is loaded with customizable settings that can make your experience using this truly personal. One feature I do like is the light feature that can help aid as a nightlight with three brightness levels. This feature is really great and can help in adjusting the brightness of almost the entire room. This can be really helpful during nap time in the daylight hours when your child is in a dark room but you also want to be able to see your sleeping baby without it being too bright. This feature can also aid in if you’re having trouble seeing if your baby wakes up and might seem to be frightened about being in the complete darkness. You could therefore turn the light on just a little to give a low glow, just to help baby know they are not in a strange place. I also very much like the use of music as lullabies. You have a wide array of music to choose from, and you can even have your own custom recordings added to the library to be used and that’s a really neat feature that I haven’t seen or one that is easily accessible in other devices. One thing I would have liked to see made a little different was to have more options on the notifications slider to adjust sensitivity of the camera. When you can adjust the sensitivity more or less to make it highly sensitive or just barely above muted, you can make it easier to know if its your child or possibly the environment it is in or near to, just so you are not berated by notifications constantly if there may be some ambient noise close to the camera but not the child really. For the camera motion detection feature, I do like the motion detection zone feature that makes it to where you can highlight a specific area to know if the motions are coming from there or if it’s coming outside of the crib somewhere else that has nothing to do with the baby and therefore wouldn’t be as much of a critical notification when seen. I also would like a little bit more customization on the slider of the sensitivity of the motion detection feature as well here because I feel like the low, mid and high features are pretty broad and more customization may allow to help discern what’s just the baby rustling and what is knowing that the baby is awake? I do like the temperature detection notification feature and the slider to customize it. The temperature range is very easy to see and easy to customize. I found it very easy to use and understand, it is a wonderful addition to the features list available for this monitor. One feature I was not crazy about was that you do have to have access to the app in order to change the lullaby song that plays, and the changing brightness level of the light. If you were to just turn the music/light function on from tapping the camera’s corresponding buttons, you cannot change what song/music/brightness level the camera is using and that is just a limiting feature. Finally, what I would say I liked most about this baby monitor, as hinted to earlier, was the use of monitoring your sleeping baby without having to put on a wearable device. It is unbelievably convenient and was seen to be very capable of getting data you need and accurately monitoring your child to make sure they are getting the sleep they need, while being adequately monitored for safe breathing and peace of mind. This feature is beyond worth the value of the device because you take out all those moments of fighting to a wearable on or trying not to wake them when trying to get it on exactly right. You also get rid of inaccurate readings or unsuccessful readings when it’s not put on just right. This capability will sell itself and will eventually I think become a “norm” in the “baby-monitoring market.” I received this baby monitor from the Stellar Product Testing Panel and I am beyond grateful for the opportunity to be able to monitor my 5-month old without the headache of kicking off the wearable and can possibly get some much-needed rest with the peace of mind I’ve been looking for. I would undoubtedly recommend this monitor to a new parent; it would be your single greatest investment and one that will be worth every penny.

This Baby monitor is absolutely amazing we love it for our Baby! We give this a full 5 stars and hope you love as much as we do! I received this Baby Monitor through the Stellar Product Testing Panel. One of my favorite things about this monitor is how easy it was to set up. We connected it to our Wifi, then bam! We were ready to go! Another feature we love about this monitor is the crystal clear video it provides. Not only do we love that for our Baby but also to make sure our dog doesn't bother her during her nap time. Lastly, the one of the best things we love about the monitor is it's ability to play lullabies or white noise. Our baby has gotten used to sleeping with a fan and white noise has been amazing to help soothe her for naps or going to bed for the night without needing the fan!

Thanks to the Stellar Product Testing Panel for providing me with this baby monitor. The devices come pre-connected for the camera and playback remote. So you don't have to mess around with any kind of Bluetooth. Aside from positioning the device and mounting it on the wall which is only a few screws/anchors which are provided. Everything is plug and play and it is very obvious what goes where. Which makes the set up incredibly straightforward and easy. The initial picture quality seems very good. I was able to clearly see the room both in normal and low light. The audio quality is more than good enough for what it is. I don't think anyone is expecting cinema level audio through a baby monitor. But words come through clear enough that you can certainly hold a conversation through it with a very minimal delay. The lullaby feature is a nice touch as well in my opinion. Especially as you are able to not only control the volume from the remote device but able to set timers and choose from multiple options so you can hopefully find one that works best for you. As far as range goes. I had zero issues with connectivity throughout my house or backyard. I realize those sizes will vary for everyone. However for me it covers everything I could ask for and more with the capabilities of a baby monitor. The remote device comes semi charged, so you are able to set everything up as soon as you open the box. The camera device either doesn't come with a battery or didn't come charged but that's okay. Each section has a decently lengthed power cord that comes with it. I like that it comes with a cord protector for the wall. That way the cameras cord isn't just hanging there. Not only does that give it a cleaner look for the room but more importantly it also means you don't have to worry about the baby accidentally pulling on the cord and hurting himself. Which should go without saying is a huge plus. All that said this thing is pretty sweet to have and incredibly useful.

The Philips Avent Premium Connected Baby Monitor is impressive. As a busy mom of 4 children with 2 under 2 I need a baby monitor that I can rely on and is easy to use. I love that I can connect to the baby monitor with the parent unit without using WiFi which can sometimes not be the most reliable. The parent unit has a clear HD video and crisp sound along with clear night vision. I love the feature which allows me to monitor my baby’s breathing without additional wearable accessories or clothing. I can talk to my baby through the monitor, play soothing lullabies or turn on a night light. There’s a built in room thermometer so I can always ensure my baby’s room is a comfortable temperature and I am able to set notifications if it gets too cold or hot. A top priority in a baby monitor for me is my family’s privacy. This Avent monitor features a Secure Connect System. It uses multiple encrypted links between the Baby Unit, Parent Unit and app so all data and imagery are protected. This gives me peace of mind. The monitor was easy to set up and comes with a mount that can be attached to the wall or crib. Overall, I really love this monitor and I’ve used many monitors over the years. This one is fantastic. I have actually been researching monitors for months because we needed a new one, and this one was in my top 2, and I'm so thankful to the Stellar Product Testing Panel for giving me the opportunity to check it out. I have been so happy with this monitor. The parent unit is one of my favorite features; it's easy to use, responsive, and the picture stays crisp and clear, surprisingly even when zoomed in. The night vision is also excellent, providing a very clear image without being grainy or overly dark. Even when I lower the brightness, it's still a fantastic picture. I absolutely love the ability to switch off the Wi-fi for added peace of mind and flexibility. When we took a weekend trip, it was so nice to know I didn't have to worry about hooking it up to the rental's Wi-Fi. Such a wonderful feature and harder to find on other reputable units. The app itself was very user-friendly, and the analytics and insights are honestly more than I could have asked for. Great for those teething weeks when I was constantly wondering if the baby slept at all during the day. Another feature I don't see mentioned enough is how versatile and easy it is to move around the camera. It works great mounted over the baby's bed, but is incredibly easy to move to the spare room and set it on the dresser if my toddler is napping in there. That flexibility and ease of moving have been incredibly convenient for us. As a mom of almost a dozen children, I've found this to be one of the best monitors I've used. My only wish would be the ability to someday expand with additional cameras and a longer battery life on the parent unit. With that said, the parent unit is very sensitive to the baby's sounds and is always loud enough for me to hear him, even when plugged in, and somehow it doesn't pick up the fan noise in the room, which is why I will never have children and not have this monitor.

As a first time mom, I am still learning what her different cries mean. The cry detection and translation feature is incredibly helpful. It alerts me when my baby needs attention, as well as provides insights into as to why she is upset. If needed, it has a two-way talk function that is clear, allowing me to comfort her from another room in real time. The 1080p camera has crystal-clear quality day or night, so lighting conditions do not impact keeping an eye on my daughter. The SenseIQ technology is an incredible, as it tracks sleep and breathing rates and allows me to know how she’s doing in real time. Unlike other monitors, setup was straightforward and easy. I honestly look forward to when we need to use it. Overall, the Philips Avent Premium Connected Baby Monitor is worth the extra money and offers premium features that all parents want and deserve. If you're looking for a dependable baby monitor, I highly recommend this!
