    How to descale my Gaggia Accademia espresso machine.

    Descaling your Gaggia Accademia espresso machine helps keeping it in optimal condition. Discover how to easily do this yourself.

    Before you start the descaling cycle

    • The complete descaling takes about 30 minutes and consists of a descaling cycle and rinsing cycles
    • Once started you need to complete the descale procedure till the very end
    • Use Saeco/Philips descaling solution CA7600 or CA6701, never use vinegar as a decalcifier

    Before you start:

    • Empty the drip tray
    • Have a container available to collect the water during the descaling process
    • Remove the INTENZA+ water filter from the water tank (if placed)
    • Remove the Pannarello / Cappuccinatore / Automatic milk frother (if placed)

    Descale instructions - descale cycle steps 1-8

    1) Select the menu option descaling cycle. Press the “OK” button to confirm.

    2) Press the “OK” button to confirm or “ESC” to exit.

    3) Refill water tank with descaling solution. Press the “OK” button to confirm.

    4) Empty the drip tray placed under the dispensing spout and place it back. Then, press the “OK” button.

    5) Fill half the carafe with fresh water. Insert the carafe and place it in the brewing position. Then, press the “OK” button.

    6) Place a container under the dispensing spout and a container under the hot water wand. Then, press the “OK” button.

    7) The descaling cycle is activated The bar shows the cycle's progress.

    8) At the end of the first step, when the descaling solution is finished, the machine will require a tank rinse.

    Descale instructions - rinsing cycle steps 9-14

    9) Rinse the water tank and refill it with fresh drinking water. Then, press the “OK” button.

    10) Empty the drip tray placed under the dispensing spout and place it back. Then, press the “OK” button.

    11) Completely empty the carafe and fill it with fresh water. Insert the carafe in the brewing position, and then press the “OK” button.

    12) Place a container under the dispensing spout and a container under the hot water wand. Then, press the “OK” button.

    13) The rinse cycle is activated The bar shows the cycle progress.

    14) At the end of the second step, the machine is ready for use.
