Easy to use and features I wantedThe monitor is very easy to set up and can either be mounted on the wall or sit on a stable surface such as a shelf. Battery life so far is excellent as is the range from home unit to parent unit. Sound quality is great and video is as well considering it’s not an HD monitor. I like that it has different modes to conserve battery. The ‘talk back’ feature I’ve used very little but found it had a delay and the voice quality was ok. The pre installed music is nice to have in case the mobile we use stops playing. Love that it’s not wifi based and in my opinion is very secure because of that. Love the temperature indicator for the room and this you can set up for warnings based on temperature preference.
Overall I’m happy with this monitor for the few months I’ve had it.

When only using Basic Functions - it's great!USAGE: We have used three of these monitors - two of the same model, one of the previous model.
Complaint: The on and off button from the parent control side stopped working on both of the first two monitors we owned so needed to be replaced within warranty.
***REDESIGN NEEDS: On/off control switch needs to be changed (why not make it the same type of switch as what is on the camera side?!).
Compliment: Customer Service was excellent/expedient in sending a replacement for the defective device.

Good monitor - privacy offsets limited motionOverall I like this monitor because it was simple to set up and the basic functions are good.
- Great screen, good picture even in the dark
- The battery life on the monitor is great – we use it ~5 hours during the day unplugged and then we plug it in at night
- We have no signal problems, and are mostly using it two flights down from where the baby sleeps
- The temperature seems accurate – our old monitor also noted the temperature, but I think it wasn’t accurate, so wasn’t useful. This one seems better.
- I like the idea of a secure, private connection as I have a friend who got hacked and thought she was going nuts
- You don’t have very much control over the camera; you can’t move it around much. That’s fine if you can find the right position to either see the whole crib or if you have a little baby who doesn’t move yet.
- The interface is a little clunky – it took a while to figure out which buttons do what and it wasn’t very intuitive. Although maybe it was hard for me because I’m so used to a different monitor.
We don’t use a lot of the features like the songs, talkback, or vibration alert settings, but they I tested them just to see how they work. Once you figure out the right path or get your alerts set up, they seem pretty easy to use. Thanks to the weeSpring Parent Panel for sending me this monitor!

Easy-to-use, high-quality digital video baby monitorWe received the Philips Avent Digital Video Baby Monitor as a gift from the weeSpring Parent Panel…and it has been a total game changer.
The monitor has a simple design, which makes set-up easy right out of the box. The monitor is easy to operate, with all features being intuitive. The quality of the video is clear, especially during the day. During the night, we found the video to have some noise but was still clear enough for a good picture. We liked that the connection is wi-fi free making it safe. The size of the parent monitor and screen is sufficient. We are able to see exactly what we need to see. The temperature feature was an extra bonus that we found to be very useful. Our son is sensitive to temperature while he sleeps so this allowed us to monitor the temperature and adjust it to his comfort level.
Overall, we would highly recommend this to someone who is looking for a easy-to-use, high-quality digital video baby monitor. There are only a few features that we found that could use some improvements. The talkback feature made the sound of our voice somewhat robotic and/or unrecognizable which startled our son. Also, our son did not like the lullaby feature because the sound was very electronic in tone. White noise and/or nature sounds may be better for the quality of the sound that this monitor plays.

If it was wireless, it would be THE perfect monitor!Seriously, THE raddest baby monitor! The display is super clear, even on night vision -- like I could watch my baby's chest rise and fall, it was THAT clear!
We also loved how long the charge lasted on the parent unit; how easy it was to get up and running, right out of the box; and, a huge bonus for us because we live in an old house (and it's winter), the temperature display. I loved being able to check and see what the temperature was in the baby's room with just a quick glance!
For us, the primary downside was that the baby unit (the one with the camera) isn't wireless, and it was kind of a problem for us because of the location of the outlet in the baby's room. Also, I wasn't in love with the feature where the parent unit starts beeping if you turn it on and the baby unit is unplugged. (I mean, also kind of user error... we found this out when we were playing with it after the baby had already gone to bed. I'm sure it's actually meant as more of a safety feature, like, hey, the camera isn't working.)
We never have used the "talk to baby" feature, or the ability for the baby unit to play lullabies... I think we'd have been more likely to try it if it played white noise, which is what we put our little dude to sleep with.
I received this monitor as a gift from the weeSpring Parent Panel, but all opinions are my own.

This video monitor is excellent! We're on our third baby and I've had many monitors, but this is definitely the best one we've owned. The picture is clear for either day or night. I can see my baby's whole face clearly. The sound quality is exceptional with no fuzzy background noises. You can actually choose the sensitivity of the sound you want coming through. It's choices are anywhere from only hearing your baby's cry (low sensitivity), to hearing everything in the room (high sensitivity). It has volume controls, range indicator, and even a screen brightness adjuster. It has an option to play lullabies in baby's room, there are five to chose from, and you can adjust the volume of the song. It tells you the temp in their room and you can set it to alert you if it gets too hot or cold too. It also has different modes to chose from. It offers video mode, audio mode, ECO mode and VOX mode; though I've only used the video mode thus far. It does PAN and Zoom, and also has talk back, so baby can hear your voice. Overall this is really a great piece of equipment, it's probably one of my favorite things. It makes my life easier because we co-sleep and baby can just crawl off the bed now! I was always so nervous leaving him to do anything around the house but now I can! Thanks to the weeSpring Parent Panel for sending me this monitor!

Easy to use monitor with large screenThis Philips Avent Digital Baby Monitor has a huge screen and is super easy to use. The camera unit has to be plugged in while in use and comes with hardware to be able to mount it. My baby is still not crawling so it sits fine on the top corner of the crib. The camera itself swivels/tilts forward and back so even from a flat surface up high I can tilt it down to see my baby in clear view. There is also a light on the camera unit that can be turned on and you can play a lullaby from there or from the monitor.
The monitor has a very simple and easy to use menu. Color or black and white. It even tells temperature and you can set alarms for min/max temp. You can also talk to baby from the monitor because sometimes all it takes is hearing your voice to calm
Baby down without having to go upstairs/into the room so they can fall back asleep, or calm down while you get to them.
You can choose the appropriate monitor settings to not be too bright or too dark, you can zoom (but not pan the camera), it can vibrate, and it even has a belt clip so you can attach it on you if needed while you walk around the house.
My only quip (and it's a small one) is that if you turn off the monitor unit it beeps loudly (although briefly), but if you have a sensitive baby it might wake them if you're turning it off nearby. Otherwise this is a great monitor with great features, easy to use, great battery life, and huge screen to see baby. Thanks to the weeSpring Parent Panel for sending me this monitor!
