Good monitor - privacy offsets limited motionOverall I like this monitor because it was simple to set up and the basic functions are good.
- Great screen, good picture even in the dark
- The battery life on the monitor is great – we use it ~5 hours during the day unplugged and then we plug it in at night
- We have no signal problems, and are mostly using it two flights down from where the baby sleeps
- The temperature seems accurate – our old monitor also noted the temperature, but I think it wasn’t accurate, so wasn’t useful. This one seems better.
- I like the idea of a secure, private connection as I have a friend who got hacked and thought she was going nuts
- You don’t have very much control over the camera; you can’t move it around much. That’s fine if you can find the right position to either see the whole crib or if you have a little baby who doesn’t move yet.
- The interface is a little clunky – it took a while to figure out which buttons do what and it wasn’t very intuitive. Although maybe it was hard for me because I’m so used to a different monitor.
We don’t use a lot of the features like the songs, talkback, or vibration alert settings, but they I tested them just to see how they work. Once you figure out the right path or get your alerts set up, they seem pretty easy to use. Thanks to the weeSpring Parent Panel for sending me this monitor!

Easy-to-use, high-quality digital video baby monitorWe received the Philips Avent Digital Video Baby Monitor as a gift from the weeSpring Parent Panel…and it has been a total game changer.
The monitor has a simple design, which makes set-up easy right out of the box. The monitor is easy to operate, with all features being intuitive. The quality of the video is clear, especially during the day. During the night, we found the video to have some noise but was still clear enough for a good picture. We liked that the connection is wi-fi free making it safe. The size of the parent monitor and screen is sufficient. We are able to see exactly what we need to see. The temperature feature was an extra bonus that we found to be very useful. Our son is sensitive to temperature while he sleeps so this allowed us to monitor the temperature and adjust it to his comfort level.
Overall, we would highly recommend this to someone who is looking for a easy-to-use, high-quality digital video baby monitor. There are only a few features that we found that could use some improvements. The talkback feature made the sound of our voice somewhat robotic and/or unrecognizable which startled our son. Also, our son did not like the lullaby feature because the sound was very electronic in tone. White noise and/or nature sounds may be better for the quality of the sound that this monitor plays.

Do not recommendI purchased one of these. Within a week of use with my new baby, the product was clearly defective. While plugged in and fully charged, it would immediately drop to zero charge and not work. After receiving a replacement monitor (it took > 7 business days to receive one, not ideal when this is for a baby you already have), the replacement has the same faulty battery and charging issues. Disappointed with the quality of these products.

Good, but needs a clockLong battery life, good picture, and a sensitive microphone. It would be very helpful if a clock was included at to the top of the screen next to the room temp.

If it was wireless, it would be THE perfect monitor!Seriously, THE raddest baby monitor! The display is super clear, even on night vision -- like I could watch my baby's chest rise and fall, it was THAT clear!
We also loved how long the charge lasted on the parent unit; how easy it was to get up and running, right out of the box; and, a huge bonus for us because we live in an old house (and it's winter), the temperature display. I loved being able to check and see what the temperature was in the baby's room with just a quick glance!
For us, the primary downside was that the baby unit (the one with the camera) isn't wireless, and it was kind of a problem for us because of the location of the outlet in the baby's room. Also, I wasn't in love with the feature where the parent unit starts beeping if you turn it on and the baby unit is unplugged. (I mean, also kind of user error... we found this out when we were playing with it after the baby had already gone to bed. I'm sure it's actually meant as more of a safety feature, like, hey, the camera isn't working.)
We never have used the "talk to baby" feature, or the ability for the baby unit to play lullabies... I think we'd have been more likely to try it if it played white noise, which is what we put our little dude to sleep with.
I received this monitor as a gift from the weeSpring Parent Panel, but all opinions are my own.

Great monitor!I recieved this product free for my honest review from the weeSpring parent panel. All opinions are 100% my own. This baby monitor is great! It helps me get more things done around the house by letting me watch him at all times. I set the parent unit on the counter while cooking and carry it around the house. Its the perfect size not too big not to small .. it fits in my sweater pockets. It has a 3.5 inch color screen that lets me see baby perfectly day or night with night vision. The sound quality is also great I can hear my baby's noises clearly. I take the parent unit everywhere I go around the house and have never lost signal. When my son is waking up this monitor allows me to talk to him or to play 1 of 5 lullabies from the parent unit and he smiles because he can hear me or he goes back to sleep with the lullabies. It is easy to set up anywhere.. I love that I can connect it in any room, turn on the parent unit and it connects in seconds. The parent unit lasts up to 10 hrs when charged. It has the option to use it in eco mode to save energy so the screen and sound will switch on if baby makes a noise. Super happy I got the chance to try it!

This video monitor is excellent! We're on our third baby and I've had many monitors, but this is definitely the best one we've owned. The picture is clear for either day or night. I can see my baby's whole face clearly. The sound quality is exceptional with no fuzzy background noises. You can actually choose the sensitivity of the sound you want coming through. It's choices are anywhere from only hearing your baby's cry (low sensitivity), to hearing everything in the room (high sensitivity). It has volume controls, range indicator, and even a screen brightness adjuster. It has an option to play lullabies in baby's room, there are five to chose from, and you can adjust the volume of the song. It tells you the temp in their room and you can set it to alert you if it gets too hot or cold too. It also has different modes to chose from. It offers video mode, audio mode, ECO mode and VOX mode; though I've only used the video mode thus far. It does PAN and Zoom, and also has talk back, so baby can hear your voice. Overall this is really a great piece of equipment, it's probably one of my favorite things. It makes my life easier because we co-sleep and baby can just crawl off the bed now! I was always so nervous leaving him to do anything around the house but now I can! Thanks to the weeSpring Parent Panel for sending me this monitor!

great monitor with great featuresWe really love this monitor! We have also used the Infant Optics video monitor and that one has been great and met our needs. But this monitor surpasses it in many ways and is quickly replacing our old one.
First of all, the battery life is MUCH better than our old monitor. Because this one has an "Eco mode" which is basically a battery-saving mode and only turns on the screen when it senses noise, it prolongs the battery life which is great for overnight use. Our other monitor only lasted a couple hours and we never used it overnight. With this one, we can set it it to Eco mode and leave it on without having it plugged in.
It also has a vibrate mode, which is activated by sound and can be used with or without the volume turned on. This one has zoom, but because it's digital zoom, the quality isn't very good. Overall, the image quality is great even in a dark room.
The signal strength is pretty standard. We can go everywhere in our two bedroom apartment and have at least two out of three bars.
One drawback in comparison to the Infant Optics monitor is that the Infant Optics had the ability to pan (the camera actually moves). The Avent monitor only has the ability to pan while zoomed in, but the camera does not move.
The design is nice, clean, modern looking, has rounded corners. The screen is large. There is a three light indicator for noise level. The screen can also be turned off and the monitor can be used as a audio only monitor.
There is an intercom feature as well as music and a nightlight, but those are features we haven't had a need for.
