Inaccurate by a few degreesMany thanks to the weespring parent panel for letting me review this product!
Let me start by saying that I regularly used this product and took two temperatures (one with this and another with a regular thermometer bought from a local store) so I could compare, and did it multiple times. While this thermometer would change readings maybe every other try, the 'old school' thermometer never wavered. On one occasion, the Avent thermometer came in at 97.6 while the regular one came in at 101.3. I wasn't pleased as 97.6 is not a fever, while 101.3 obviously definitely was. Being that the regular thermometer was used for an axillary measure, I wouldn't have expected such a large gap between the two locations. I wouldn't recommend this for an infant being that it varies so much and even one degree can make such a difference in babies. It might be okay for older children so long as you're aware of signs of concern with higher temperatures i.e dehydration and alertness. Other than that, it was easy to use and had no issues turning on or reading the temperature displayed.

Nice, except...This is a great new way to check your child's temperature. It's as easy as pointing in their ears! I got a chance to try this thermometer as part of the weeSpring Parent Panel, and although it is easy to use, it's not a great choice if your child's issue is with their ears. Depending on the age you have to pull the ears a certain direction and if your child is the squirmy type, you will have a difficult time using this. Although it is nice and technologically advanced, I'd prefer the traditional thermometer, one stick and you're done!

Inaccurate at bestI tried everything to get this thermometer to work correctly: inserting the probe forward and backward, trying both ears, cleaning it several times with a cotton swab. It always read low.
Once my toddler had an obvious fever, she was burning up. It said her temperature was 98 degrees, a rectal thermometer said 102. I don't trust this thing at all. It's unfortunate because the screen is very big and clear and readings only take 2 seconds.
I received this thermometer as a gift from the weeSpring Parent Panel

Best for older kids or babiesThe thermometer was easy to use and really great for my husband and I to use on ourselves. Our 18 month old hated it though and it was impossible to use on her unless she was held down and even then not always possible. I think this would be great for a baby or an older child. We will keep trying to use it as it is quick and easy to use (as long as you can get your child to stay still). I got a chance to try this thermometer as part of the weeSpring Parent Panel.

Better for using on younger childrenMy son who is 22 months loves to use the thermometer. But the use of the app I would have loved more when he was younger to track his temperature. It is usually quite a few degree difference in each ear. But it's easy for dad and baby sitter to use.

Easy and accurateThis will be the third thermometer I have had since the birth of my daughter 1 1/2 years ago. The first never seemed to work right and gave random readings that varied drastically. The 2nd quit working all most immediately. By the time I got this one I was ready to give up buy a super expensive temporal thermometer. This one has been super simple and gives a consistent reading. The first one would differ even if I took a reading immediately after the first, so I never knew which was correct. I feel confident this one is accurate. It’s also easy to use in the dark in the middle of the night. You will be amazed as a parent how much you learn to do while half-awake in the dark! The glowing ring is a nice feature too, if the temperature is something to worry about the ring will turn red. I honestly did not use the uGrow app as our daughter as only been sick once, and better very quickly. I can see how it would be useful if she gets sick and I want to track how she is over a few days without having to try to find a pen to write things down in the middle of the night. My memory is not that great due to lack of sleep! I appreciate the fast reading too, as my toddler is not a fan of having her temperature taken. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is that I find some of the app to be overkill, do I really an for my thermometer? I received this thermometer as a gift from the WeeSpring Parent Panel, and perfect timing as it arrived the one and only time my daughter has been sick, thanks weeSpring!

Great Thermometer for 1 Child FamiliesAs a mom of two under two being able to get a quick and easy temperature read is essential for me. And on that front the Philips Avent Smart Ear Thermometer easily delivered. I never had any problem whatsoever with taking my children’s temperatures with this thermometer. It was quick and neither of them fussed when using it. And with what seems like every product under the sun being a “smart” whatever it is it was a no brainer for Philips to attempt to do the same when it comes to their new thermometer. The concept is great. You take your child’s temperature and then when you are ready it pushes the data from the thermometer to the app. No need to track temperature changes via pen and paper. No need to worry about did I forget to write something down or did I forget to bring the paper to the doctor’s office. And the app seemed really nice, but only if you have one kid. I was unable to find any way to add multiple profiles for multiple children to the app. So for one kid I can use the thermometer as it was “smart” intended, for the other I have to pretend its just a regular thermometer and remember the pen and paper. As always, a big thank you to the weeSpring Parent Panel for sending us this thermometer!

Inaccurate readingsI am a parent and health care professional. I was very excited about this thermometer. This Philips Avent Smart Thermometer comes nicely packaged and looks like it's a great product. The materials are sturdy, and the buttons make the product easy to use.
However, I tested this on my child and was surprised that the reading seemed off. I took my own temperature and compared it to an oral thermometer. The temperatures were a few degrees apart. Then I took a reading from my other ear and found that reading to be even more off. I ran the "test" again and have ultimately given up on this thermometer.
The Bluetooth and matching app were exciting, but I did find the app to be buggy, and it doesn't look like you can keep a temperature log for more than one person.
Ultimately, a thermometer that cannot take a consistently accurate reading is a confusing - not to mention, potentially dangerous - tool for a parent, and I would recommend buying another brand or type.
I got a chance to try this thermometer from the weeSpring Parent Panel, however will be unable to use this in the future without worrying about inaccuracy.
