Nice, except...This is a great new way to check your child's temperature. It's as easy as pointing in their ears! I got a chance to try this thermometer as part of the weeSpring Parent Panel, and although it is easy to use, it's not a great choice if your child's issue is with their ears. Depending on the age you have to pull the ears a certain direction and if your child is the squirmy type, you will have a difficult time using this. Although it is nice and technologically advanced, I'd prefer the traditional thermometer, one stick and you're done!

Easy and accurateThis will be the third thermometer I have had since the birth of my daughter 1 1/2 years ago. The first never seemed to work right and gave random readings that varied drastically. The 2nd quit working all most immediately. By the time I got this one I was ready to give up buy a super expensive temporal thermometer. This one has been super simple and gives a consistent reading. The first one would differ even if I took a reading immediately after the first, so I never knew which was correct. I feel confident this one is accurate. It’s also easy to use in the dark in the middle of the night. You will be amazed as a parent how much you learn to do while half-awake in the dark! The glowing ring is a nice feature too, if the temperature is something to worry about the ring will turn red. I honestly did not use the uGrow app as our daughter as only been sick once, and better very quickly. I can see how it would be useful if she gets sick and I want to track how she is over a few days without having to try to find a pen to write things down in the middle of the night. My memory is not that great due to lack of sleep! I appreciate the fast reading too, as my toddler is not a fan of having her temperature taken. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is that I find some of the app to be overkill, do I really an for my thermometer? I received this thermometer as a gift from the WeeSpring Parent Panel, and perfect timing as it arrived the one and only time my daughter has been sick, thanks weeSpring!

Great Thermometer for 1 Child FamiliesAs a mom of two under two being able to get a quick and easy temperature read is essential for me. And on that front the Philips Avent Smart Ear Thermometer easily delivered. I never had any problem whatsoever with taking my children’s temperatures with this thermometer. It was quick and neither of them fussed when using it. And with what seems like every product under the sun being a “smart” whatever it is it was a no brainer for Philips to attempt to do the same when it comes to their new thermometer. The concept is great. You take your child’s temperature and then when you are ready it pushes the data from the thermometer to the app. No need to track temperature changes via pen and paper. No need to worry about did I forget to write something down or did I forget to bring the paper to the doctor’s office. And the app seemed really nice, but only if you have one kid. I was unable to find any way to add multiple profiles for multiple children to the app. So for one kid I can use the thermometer as it was “smart” intended, for the other I have to pretend its just a regular thermometer and remember the pen and paper. As always, a big thank you to the weeSpring Parent Panel for sending us this thermometer!

Inaccurate readingsI am a parent and health care professional. I was very excited about this thermometer. This Philips Avent Smart Thermometer comes nicely packaged and looks like it's a great product. The materials are sturdy, and the buttons make the product easy to use.
However, I tested this on my child and was surprised that the reading seemed off. I took my own temperature and compared it to an oral thermometer. The temperatures were a few degrees apart. Then I took a reading from my other ear and found that reading to be even more off. I ran the "test" again and have ultimately given up on this thermometer.
The Bluetooth and matching app were exciting, but I did find the app to be buggy, and it doesn't look like you can keep a temperature log for more than one person.
Ultimately, a thermometer that cannot take a consistently accurate reading is a confusing - not to mention, potentially dangerous - tool for a parent, and I would recommend buying another brand or type.
I got a chance to try this thermometer from the weeSpring Parent Panel, however will be unable to use this in the future without worrying about inaccuracy.

Small, Fast and AccurateIt's small and lightweight. Easy to hold in one hand will wrangling a moving toddler. The ear bud is small and won't hurt baby's ear. FAST - it really does take the reading in 2 secs
Beeps aren't so annoying they'd wake up everyone in the middle of the night. Temps were pretty close to the ones my temporal thermometer got.
The directions are pretty dense. It took me two tries of reading the instructions to figure out how to use the thermometer. The directions say to start by syncing it to your phone. I believe you can use it without syncing it - but I'm not sure.
Syncing with the phone can be tricky. My readings don't sync very easily. I have to open and close the app multiple times before the readings showed up in my app.
Being able to track the readings automatically kinda of offsets the price a little.
I wasn't able to easily figure out if I could use this for multiple kids and track them both. Again, those directions were kind of confusing.
I received this thermometer free from AVENT, as part of the weeSpring Parent Panel and was asked to give my review. I am not being paid for this review.

Not accurateI was excited that I got a chance to try this thermometer as part of the weeSpring Parent Panel. The idea of a fast accurate reading ear thermometer was perfect, unfortunately it is not very accurate at all. My son, age 2 held very still while performing the reads. His first came out at 95.8. I waited 5 mins and tried again and got 96. I decided to check my own temperature and it was 96.7. These readings seemed too low so I grabbed an oral digital thermometer and checked us both. His 98.2, mine 98.8. I went through all the suggested troubleshoot issues and still had problems with the thermometer. A month later my husband got the flu and he knew he was a running a fever. I tested him with this thermometer and it read 98.9. I had him clean his ear out and cleaned the probe before retesting only to get the same result. The oral digital thermometer read 101.4.
Each time we tested the reading seemed to be a 2-4 degree F lower than what it should be reading.
The app is a great idea. It took a couple tries to get it to sync to my phone. I like that this doesn't need the app to function though.

Inaccurate by a few degreesMany thanks to the weespring parent panel for letting me review this product!
Let me start by saying that I regularly used this product and took two temperatures (one with this and another with a regular thermometer bought from a local store) so I could compare, and did it multiple times. While this thermometer would change readings maybe every other try, the 'old school' thermometer never wavered. On one occasion, the Avent thermometer came in at 97.6 while the regular one came in at 101.3. I wasn't pleased as 97.6 is not a fever, while 101.3 obviously definitely was. Being that the regular thermometer was used for an axillary measure, I wouldn't have expected such a large gap between the two locations. I wouldn't recommend this for an infant being that it varies so much and even one degree can make such a difference in babies. It might be okay for older children so long as you're aware of signs of concern with higher temperatures i.e dehydration and alertness. Other than that, it was easy to use and had no issues turning on or reading the temperature displayed.

Fast!I am so grateful to have received this via the WeeSpring Parent Panel. I loved this thermometer the first few times I used it. It feels better in the ear than our other ear thermometer. It's so fast (which is perfect for wiggly toddlers and babies), but as I continued to use it, it became less and less acurrate. The first few times I used it I took our temperature multiple times and it was exactly the same each time. Now, there can be over a degree of variation when I take it, even in the same ear immediately afterwards. I love that there is an app to go with it, and it was fine when I tried it out, but I honestly don't have enough room on my phone to keep it on there. We'll continue to keep it and track temperatures on an iPad if we need to use the app. Also, because it is a "smart thermometer," some features are lacking on the actual thermometer. The main one being the memory feature. I wish I could look at the past 10 temps taken without using the app. Overall, I still recommend it, but it's not "the one" for me (still looking for something more accurate.
