Excellent TV and great picture
Have owned this TV for almost 9 years and still going strong. Would definitely purchase another Philips.

I have already run into the same problem and the reason is because the cable/ISP doesn't have proper hardware support in that area for HD yet, hence the lack of change in video quality when you switch back and forth between modes. Other then that issue that is beyond my control, the Philips works great.

has hdmi connection problems
I upgraded my dish network to hd and now through my hdmi cable the audio does not work on standard definition channels. I have already upgraded my software and have e mailed phillips three times about my problem and gotten no response and i really cant tell much difference between standard definition and high definition channels and I probably wont buy another phillips tv again.
