The Diamond Clean has a "secret" last mode selected memory feature!
I already had a Sonicare Flexcare at home, that I didn't want to use for business travel, so I bought the Diamond Clean model as a dedicated travel toothbrush. I love that the travel case is also the charging base!
The most common complaint, about the Diamond Clean model, is the mode selection.
I almost didn't buy it based on this complaint in many of the reviews.
The problem is, even if everyone did read the manual, the manual doesn't properly explain the mode selection feature.
I discovered, by accident, that the Diamond Clean has a "secret" last mode selected memory feature.
By pressing the power on button once, the Diamond Clean will always operate at the last mode used.
For example, if you prefer to always use the Gum Care mode:
Before attaching the brush head, power on and scroll to the Gum Care mode, let the brush operate for 3-5 seconds, then power off.
Then when you're ready to brush, press the power on button and it will always operate in the Gum Care mode.
No need to scroll through the modes every time you power up.
I have no need for the mouthwash glass/charging base, as my Diamond Clean is primarily used for travel, and is stored in its case.
I agree, with the other reviews, that having to clean and dry the mouthwash glass, before charging, makes it cumbersome to use.
I tried using it, with my home Sonicare Flexcare, but it got annoying really fast.
I would have given the Diamond Clean 5 stars if the travel case had room for a travel size tube of toothpaste.

overall a good product clear, through and concise instruction on use of product are missing
I find the information, either included in packaging or online, relative to the product: mode choices (individually or sequenced), brush heads etc. to be lacking or at best incomplete to fully understand the use and scope of use to this product. With that said I generally like the product but would enjoy it more if I knew/understood more about the modes/functions and brush heads (3 included with rechargeable base).

The brush handle does not stand in the charger without the glass. And the glass just adds clutter to the bathroom countertop and breaks easily. Really a bad charging method to a nice brush.

I can never go back to manual toothbrush again
I was first introduced to Sonicare over 12 years ago as a little 12 year old. I saw the displays at my dentist and always wondered what it would be like to own a powerful electric toothbrush. My dentist highly recommended Sonicare and said they were the best toothbrushes out there. I put a Sonicare on my Christmas list and was pleased to get one from Santa that year. I was so excited, I got the intelliclean i8500 with the integrated toothpaste dispenser. I had used cheap electric toothbrushes before but never one that had the power of a Sonicare. Since that day, Christmas 2005, I've never looked back at manual toothbrushes.
The DiamondClean is the latest Sonicare that I have, it's my 3rd model in 12 years, which goes to show you that these things last. The feel of your teeth after ever brushing can be most closely related to that feeling you have after leaving the dentist for your 6 month cleaning. My teeth feel so smooth and fresh. This model is by far the best looking model that they've ever come out with. I'm never ashamed to leave it on the bathroom counter. The quality of the handle is great, it's a very soft feeling plastics that rests well in your hand. The brush head is wide enough to cover most teeth and get into those hard to reach places. This model also comes with the glass cup charging station as well as a convenient traveling case which doubles as a charger. This toothbrush also comes with a great mode for beginners where the power of the handle is slowly ramped up over 2 weeks so that new users can get accustomed to that Sonicare power.
I would highly recon we this toothbrush to anyone who is looking to experience the best of what Sonicare has to offers.

Did not last as long as prior Sonicare products
I've used Sonicare for almost two decades. My dental cleanings have been much better after a dentist recommended I switch to an electric toothbrush. The first Sonicare toothbrush is still going strong. My second lasted 6 years, which I was very impressed with, so I did not hesitate to splurge on this Sonicare version. However, after a few months, it started making strange noises like the motor was failing, so I easily exchanged it for a new one. Now, 1.5 years into the new one, the motor seems to be dying. Not the durability I was hoping for.
I do like the travel case, the shape, and the toothbrush. I'm just disappointed it did not last as long as prior models I owned, especially at this price point.

An AMAZING addition to Sonicare's line with one big flaw (or two)...
I have been a Sonicare user for about eight years and have grown to love the design, ease of use, and amazingly effective dental care their products provide. On a recent business trip I left my Sonicare Flexcare+ in my hotel room and was very disappointed when it could not be found later by the hotel staff. I immediately went on line to see what the latest Sonicare model was, and was amazed to find the Sonicare DiamondClean. Even though there were not many reviews out yet, I knew this product had to be great.
I ordered my DiamondClean and eagerly awaited its arrival. The brush lives up to everything I had read with one big flaw, in my opinion. Let me first say that this unit left my teeth feeling cleaner than they've EVER felt. I had noticeably cleaner teeth after the first use.
The flaw, in my opinion, is that the designers left off a very important element which is the button that allows you to select the mode before you turn on the brush. Users of Flexcare know what I'm talking about...there is a "toggle" button that allows you to select the brush mode and a separate button that turns the unit on. With the DiamondClean you have to press the power button multiple times to reach the desired brush mode. Try that with toothpaste on the brush head and trying to look down to see which mode you are selecting. BAD design. I guess in time I will learn how many clicks for gum care, etc. but this was definitely a huge let-down for me in such an expensive Sonicare model.
The other interesting feature is the USB travel case. I find this a bit "gimicky" as I have never been to a hotel that didn't have an electrical outlet for me to plug in my Sonicare, and furthermore, I have to be on a VERY long trip to require me to charge it. The other let-down with the very sleek travel case is the fact that you cannot place the brush head clear cover on the brush head and place it into the case. Only the brushead with no cover will fit into the precisely molded fittings. Another obvious flaw that hopefully will be corrected in future releases.
Overall, I am happy and think you will be as well.

best so far
This is literally THE best toothbrush I've used in my entire life. Worth every penny. I bought the rose gold, and it's gorgeous. It matches my iPhone, so that's cool I guess, but more so, it's just neat to have fancy looking tech in your bathroom that updates the place a bit. More importantly though, this thing works miracles.
I already have white teeth, but I bought it because I have plaque that builds up around a permanent retainer installed behind my lower teeth after having braces in high school. Regular brushing and flossing doesn't remove all the food particles, and every year my dentist hounds me over it. It gets incredibly painful when she has to scrape off a year's worth of buildup off the area. I just bought this sucker, and in ONE use, it literally just blasted away the plaque residing on and around my retainer and teeth that had been there for about 4 months. You know that feeling after you get your teeth professionally cleaned and they're all smooth and shiny, and you run your tongue all over them? Same feeling as when you first got your braces off? Yeah, same exact feeling. Amazing Every single tooth feels like it was just professionally cleaned in the two minutes it took to brush my teeth this morning.
Word of advice though, this thing is powerful, so I applied the toothpaste, and then turned it on before I stuck it in my mouth and toothpaste went flying. Make sure you apply the toothpaste and then place the brush up against your teeth before turning it on to avoid a mess. Also, don't open up your mouth while brushing to watch it work. Small flecks of paste will speckle the vicinity.
I haven't tried any other settings yet, just the regular "Clean" setting, but I had beyond thrilled with this thing. Philips is on to something here. Throw out whatever you've got now, because it doesn't come close to this.

Bought 7/2013 as my first electric toothbrush...worked great and teeth are squeaky clean...then the insides of the toothbrush body start vibrating last fall (conveniently just after the warranty expired) and now is not working. Thought maybe a good name in toothbrushes would sell a product that would hold up a few years but apparently not! Great toothbrush but don't expect much after the two year mark in my opinion...
